I recently had the pleasure of meeting Cynthia the creator of Dyosah Jewelry. Cynthia reached out to me via email after spotting my instagram account and liking my vibe. She wanted to work with me to promote her brand to all of you. I took a look at the band and saw right away that she had talent, but what sold me on working with Cynthia was she asked me to meet and hear about my story. Now she had be interested.
I met her at my favourite meeting spot, Myriam Club Monaco downtown Montreal. If you’re anyone who has asked to meet me around work hours for an interview or to discuss collaborating you know this is my go to spot. Like many meetings I grabbed my latte and my croissant that became lunch (yeah I’m a big believer in healthy lunching, but sometimes Paris gets the best of you… no other explanation needed!) and we chatted work ethic, self esteem, corporate life and happiness.
What struct me initially about Cynthia was how poised she was. I was so excited to hear her story I almost forgot about the jewelry. She came from the corporate world, as so many of us do, and left her unrewarding job to pursue her dream. I can’t get enough of these stories. Im a hopeless romantic for the risk taker. Someone who is willing to jump into the unknown and take a risk on what they love. Its incredible.
She left and searched for something else to ignite her passion and came to jewelry. She was actually named Miss Canada in the Miss Universe pageant, which is undoubtably believable once you understand the poised personality i speak of along with her natural beauty. It ignited something inside her to enlighten other women another health, happiness and self acceptance. From this she created Dyosah.
The jewelry collection is sold primarily online. It is all silver and swarovski beading. Although there are a number of beautiful pieces, what caught my eye were the chockers and the body chains. Cynthia explained that the body chains are meant for each woman to wear and tell their own story, which ties into the fact that they can be worn so many different ways. She says that everyone is different and sees beauty differently, which means no one will wear it the same way. The other side is that you can add sparkle to something so simple so you feel beautiful. T-shirt and jeans can be beautiful with the perfect self expressing jewels.
Something else that cynthia said that really caught my attention was a story from a few months ago when she did a bridal show. She showcased her jewelry and tons of people were approaching her because they loved the collect except they wouldn’t try on any of the body chains. So many people felt insecure to try on the chain as they immediately felt it wouldn’t fit, they weren’t thin enough, they didn’t have the confidence to wear suchstyle. Its this that was completely the opposite of what Cynthia was trying to do with her Dyosah collection and this bothered her most.
Its why I wanted to share the story of her unique adventure to create her own collection, and let you all discover the beauty of her pieces. But most importantly of her. I am so happy she asked to meet and chat about stories.
