I just celebrated my 26th birthday which was kind of absolutely fabulous. I fit in all the things I love. On my actually birthday I made all my best girlfriends come and do a bodylicious class and we followed this up with a little champagne and catch up. The perfect night. Then over the weekend I hosted a huge sit down dinner for 30 of my closest friends. We had it catered by the amazing vegetarian greek restaurant, Mouton Vert. It was fabulous. Lots of food. Lots of wine… and of course ouzo. We had a blast. Danced. Broke plates. Danced some more. (Don't worry the full b-day post is coming soon!)
Ultimately the week was full of lots of booze, food and late nights. I was feeling the itch for a cleanse coming along. I have done a few of no alcohol periods … the hardest and most rewarding being last year a month before Christmas. I started Christmas and the New Year GLOWING and having lost a bit of weight as well. Not only just from the holiday drinking calories but also from the focus and control my brain had over the devisions I was making. Aka not reaching for the extra.. or first.. holiday brownie.
Most recently after returning from Europe and consuming mass amounts of caffeine I was having a hard time & feeling jittery and anxious from the coffee. I was also having a hard time sleeping so I cut out coffee about a month ago and I didn't go back. I had one on the night of my birthday actually because I knew I would be out and about. It's a treat but not a dependancy. The head aches that come from the coffee addiction are the worst thing ever. When you consume coffee, the next morning without it feels like the end of the world. I know some of you feel me on this one.
Because these two have been done a few times at different occasions, I know I can do them rather easily. I wanted to eliminate other toxic parts of my diet so I dove into even more. Dairy being one of the biggest ones. Probably one of the most toxic things that my body has to digest, but also is one of the hardest for me. I get most of my protein from cheese and eggs. I don't drink much milk but I certainly eat lots of cheese as a veg.
Below you will find the chart of all the big things I decided to cut out over the next few days. Feel free to print this out and join along with us. I told some of my fit fatale girls in the challenge that if they don't think all of these are doable, to pick some of the bigger things like maybe alcohol and caffeine and try and focus on these.
I also wanted to make sure everyone had a detailed list of all the GOOD stuff to get pumping into our bodies and guts. For that reason I provided my girls with a list of all the healthy eats to load up on. (You have to join our facebook group for this one!) This should help you from feeling discouraged and stressed about what to eat. There is also a ton of vegan recipes and blogs focused on a detox style of eating like this. Its certainly isn't for everyone and it will be hard but it feels soooo good. That I promise you. You can do anything for 25 days don't you think?
I will also add that I think stopping to eat by 8pm is a huge part of this detox. Thats because our body goes into detox mode over night. When you eat too late you don't get to fully detox and your body feels lethargic the next day, especially if your consumed heavy proteins or carbs. Almost like a hangover but without all the fun the night before. Not great! I personally do Intermittent Fasting 4-5 days a week. This means I don't eat from 8pm until 12pm the next day. I was doing this everyday but its important to know that as a female we shouldn’t be fasting everyday. The fasting mode will tell our bodies to stop producing certain hormones because we aren't eating regularly enough to hold a baby… yes all the fat in our body is always related to babies. If you drop too much body fat too quickly it will also play with your hormones. So try and trick your body. Get the benefits from IF but don't do it everyday so it doesn't realize you’ve been fasting. Of course if you are trying to conceive or are pregnant this is not for you and anyone with any previous issues should always consult a doctor.
I also suggest pairing the first two weeks with Renew Life 15 days first cleanse supplements. You take one in the morning and one at night and they help tremendously with your gut health! I love this product, but only do a supplement cleanse about twice a year, however to maintain my gut health I do take their probiotics everyday. A great way to ensure your up keeping that clean gut.
So weight yourself, take your body fat, your inches around your hips, a picture of your skin, eczema, acne, check out the yellow of your eyes, the glands around your body, the glow in your skin and see how you feel after a week, two or three and you'll be happy you did this. Thats my intuition!
