I love doing cleanses. They have so many benefits to our health, but I also love the idea of a personal challenge. Of saying no I wont do that and sticking to it. And then of course… once you’ve made it the first few days of suffering without sugar and all those other things we get addicted to… it’s like, well whats the point of breaking now. We’ve suffered so it better be for something. Slowly and slowly you start to feel less cravings and just feel freakin awesome. I cant wait to watch the next group of TFF challenge girls do the same.

First let me tell you a bit how it works.
I know its really freakin scary to think you’ll be cutting out some of your faves for the next 25 days…. But here you have it. Its after thanksgiving here in Canada, before American thanksgiving and Christmas parties / holidays begin and its a great way to reset as you head into those indulgent months. The other thing is that you’ll feel amazing. And that feeling is better than reaching for an extra cookie at a holiday party. With that fresh in your mind you may be making better, educated choices this holiday season.
Cutting out sugar and dairy is one of the hardest parts for more people. But its key in this equation. If I can advise of one thing to cut out it would always be sugar. Yes its bad for your and yes it creates fat. But ultimately it makes you crave everything else that’ll throw you off… including just plain old over eating. See sugar tricks us into thinking we are hungry and there for we eat more. This is what happens with alcohol as well (because of the sugar content). Thats why I suggest low sugar alcohol but I will get into that in a different post.
So what you need to cut out:
yup all of it…. Here is what I will say, if you only want to do this for 10 days then do that! I know we all have a lot of weddings and celebrations going on but be educated on the type of alcohol you consume if you will allow yourself some. But do try and do at least 10 days without it so your body and most importantly liver has the chance to catch up!
Things like milk, cheese, whey based protein, butter. Many dairy products are high in fat, sugar and hormones. The second people cut out dairy for their diet they usually start to see the body fat drop significantly on the scale.
I usually suggest ditching meat and seafood. If you want to keep a bit in there pick lean meats like chicken or seafoods like white fish or oysters. I suggest giving your body a break from it as the meat and fish industry still has a lot of chemicals and hormones. Letting your body cleanse without these is most efficient.
Starch Based Carbs
Think things like bread, pasta, rice, couscous, potatoes, breakfast cereals, barley… all that stuff. DITCH!
Go for things like quinoa or if you want to include a bread type replacement pick Ezeikel or Fitness bread. Make sure to read the labels. Many of these may have added sugar as well.
Anything that is added in. Read labels please!! Thats the biggest mistake when it comes to sugar. More times than not, your favourite foods second ingredient is sugar. Even in things like pasta sauce and more savoury dishes… why? Because sugar keeps you wanting more and liking the product. We need to retrain our taste buds and you’ll start loving fresh whole foods again,
Fruit is fine. I always get that question. Make sure to pay attention to how much you eat, but I always down lots of smoothies and fruit as snack while cleansing. This needs to be sustainable for 25 days so keep that in there.
Unhealthy Oils and Fat
This includes vegetable oil, canola oil, soybean oil, corn oil, sunflower oil, and of course anything hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated!
We know what these are for the most part but they are things like granola bars, crackers, candy, packages meats & cheese, frozen dinners, microwave popcorn, sauces like ketchup and condiments, flavoured nuts (plain raw ones are okay!). Anything that has a shelf life or a package is probably a no go!
Soy is not great for men or women in access. Also a lot of people have soy intolerances they don’t know about and you may feel incredible without consuming soy like tofu, soy milk, edamame, soy proteins.
So those are the basis of what to cut out… we want to make sure you’re adding in tons of health things like lots of Fruits, Veggies, Nuts, Seeds, Legumes, Whole Grains, Herbs, Spices, Healthy Oils and Fats, Tea, Apple Cider Vinegar, Spirulina, Himalayan Sea Salt.
