It’s hard to always find your work out groove while traveling. Recently, I have been back and forth a lot from Montreal to Toronto. I am lucky to have studios that I love so much in both places, and yet some days when we travel for work (and we all know this very well) we simply don’t have the time to wake up and get to the studio whilst maximizing meetings and content.
Enter “the best travel workout” - also known as the Sweat 12 Week Challenge - or what I like to call my personal pocket Kayla Itsines. Since starting the Sweat challenge I have had a go at working out in my own hotel or really anywhere I stay for that matter. I’m discovering it’s not hard to incorporate into your daily life because your workouts come with you anywhere via the Sweat App. That type of ease helps you release the stress of getting that work out done and makes it a reality to achieve.
Let’s talk about what this challenge is exactly shall we?
The Sweat 12 Week Challenge is a 12 week reset to your fitness goals, starting from week 1 of your selected program and I’m not gonna lie it’s pretty freaking hard. There are different programs to choose from - but I have been doing Kayla Itsines original BBG program. Her fitness level is enough to get anyone motivated. Trust me on that!
Even for someone who works out every day (like me) it’s definitely still a challenge. The resistance workouts are composed of 28 minute circuits that you do three times a week which is then complemented by cardio and stretching days. As everyone knows I still teach my own classes while I have been doing the challenge so for this reason the cardio and stretches (moment of rehabilitation) are key for me due to the big demand I ask from my body each day. Everyone’s body is different, but I balance my toning best with lots of cardio to flush out my muscles.
The other amazing part of the 12 Week Challenge is that …. It’s a challenge. With a number tied to it!
I’m kind of a challenge junkie. Completing a challenge with a group of likeminded people to support you makes you feel so motivated and connected to a cause. You’re all fighting for the same thing and in this case it’s a great way to unite, come together and stand beside each other as a team. It also gives you a realistic timeframe that you can work through together. For me as a Virgo and as someone who’s a very type A personality, this component makes it a lot of fun. When you pair a high intensity workout with awesome music and a supportive community fun will always be had and you will never be bored!. Sweat also has many playlists built into their app linked through Apple Music so you always have new music to help you push through your workout.
As mentioned above, my favourite part about the entire challenge and the Sweat App, is that I’ve been travelling quite a bit in the past couple of weeks and it’s an easy workout to bring with you while you’re on the go!
We started the challenge together 5 weeks ago, but anyone can pick up anywhere and join in. It’s a fun work out, leaves you drenched in sweat and feeling sore the next day…. Which ultimately keeps the motivation going!
I hope you try it out and if you do let me know your thoughts and which program you decide to follow!
