I'm sharing my top 5 ways to hit the ground running in 2016. Resolutions are great, motivating and fun, but the best way to start off your year fresh is to prepare and recharge before hand.
We are constantly bombarded by technology and staying “up to date” on social news, events, and the where abouts of celebrities. Take some time and unplug from your email, text and social media before the New Year. This week is about recharging and preparing for the year to come. Take advantage of the quiet winds through what ever city you call home, as people turn to Netflix and hot coco and try doing the same. My tip; airplane mode for the day and see how disconnected you can truly become.
2. Clean out your closet
One of the best ways to spend the week in preparation for a new year, is by cleaning out your closet and extra niknaks around the house that are not needed. Take time to really think about what you use, what you need, and then ditch the rest. You'll feel fresh and relieved starting the year with a clear mind and organized closet. My tip; ditch anything you haven’t worn in the past year, anything with a rip or hole you keep saying you will "fix" and anything that just is totally not your style anymore. We all have way too much “stuff” in our lives, and let's face it... will probably never stop buying more, so make sure you ditch and make room for the new.
3. Organize your beauty products
When ever we have the chance to start fresh, it is always best to feel fresh as well. I love stocking up on new beauty products like scrubs, face masks, hydrating balms, hair oils and other products that will keep you looking and feeling good. Ditch what you don’t need, want or is not fresh anymore (no you can't stretch that mascara from summer into 2016!). My tip; load up on clear bins or organizers for your cosmetic cupboard. This way you can keep yourself and your products organized and easy to navigate.
4. Prepare your new agenda
With a new year, comes a new agenda, exciting events, a busy schedule and or course resolutions we plan to keep. This year, before January 1st, prepare your agenda. Mark down key dates, big milestones that you already know will be happening (like the one year anniversary of your blog) or wish list dates. My tip: fill in a few dates that guide resolutions and your year to come and then work backwards. If you know you want your hair to be long by a wedding in April, mark your goal dates and then plan backwards on ways to keep up with your hair care, hair growth treatments and cutting down on the flat iron!
5. Treat yourself to something motivating
I love to stock up on new work out gear, but yours can be anything. Just make sure it keeps you motivated for what is to come. The best way to do that is to feel good about yourself. Whether it’s a new fitness tracking device like FitBit or MiraFitness, new face products from Sephora, that motivating book to get you going or work out gear from Lulu Lemon, make it something you’ll love to be reminded of each day. My tip; pick something that will excite you every day like putting on your tracking device and checking in, or using that new charcoal face scrub that has been making your face smooth and fresh during the dry months of winter.
