This is a huge question for most of us with limited time, running from work to studio classes. I personally never wear makeup to the gym anymore, it probably happens twice a year. But today was that day and it had me thinking.... I went from morning meetings to a noon Pilates class with no time to remove it. I know Iโm not the only one and so many of you do classes on your lunch break from work. So letโs talk it out....
Below sharing my thoughts and tips for makeup at the gym and keeping your skin clear even while breaking a sweat.
๐ my first rule of thumb is donโt do it. When I committed to healing my acne I also committed to no make up at the gym (letโs call it 98% of the time!).
๐ always keep face wipes on you to remove makeup (sorta how I got stuck today!) and post workout wash your face to remove bacteria.
โRemember that no one is judging your skin, and if they are, itโs not about you! โ
๐ remember that no one is judging your skin , and if they are itโs NOT ABOUT YOU! Some days my face isnโt in its finest shape but itโs important to remember that Iโm there to work out.
๐ the impacts of clogging your pores and working out with makeup will be much worse and create more breakouts.
๐ if you are totally in need of covering it up (I get it Iโm the same if I have a big break out) try using concealer just lightly on your pimple. Itโs better than covering your entire face.
๐ if you know youโll be keeping your make up on like I did today in my noon class, book a low impact class like yoga or Pilates where you wonโt be sweating as much. You lower the chances of breakouts that way.
๐ try to limit rubbing your face with the towels in the gym. I will just use them around my hairline to stop sweat from spreading limit rubbing or spreading sweat across my face.
๐ cover any equipment you use with a towel if youโre resting your face or cheek on it.
๐if you do wear makeup to the gym, check whatโs inside your products. I use natural makeup when I do wear it even if itโs outside of the gym. Fave brands are Nude Stix & Nude by Nature.
๐ finally if you do break out just remember EVERYONE GETS PIMPLES and they are not for forever. I use SLMD skin care that Iโve been talking about for a while, but they finally just released their first spot treatment and itโs insane how fast it disappears.
Hope some of my tips help that Iโve learned over the years of battling acne while hitting the gym!
