Self Love for Valentine’s Day

This weekend is all about LOVE, and not just with a significant other. We’ve seen the self love moment absolutely blow up this past year, so when we’re talking about the day of love, I hope we aren’t still stuck in the old mindset that love is just for romantic lovers.

I wanted to kick off the weekend with a few ideas of how you can celebrate self love this weekend, no matter who you’re with. So take yourself on a date, grab your girlfriend, a family member or your S.O. and join me in an act of self-love YOU DESERVE.

xx Sam

Show yourself some self care this Valentine’s Day

Treat yourself to a relaxing massage

Trev and I got one a couple weeks ago from Massago and it was so amazing. The service allows you to put in a request for length and type of massage then notifies their local therapists. Once someone grabs the gig you’re booked in. My favourite part, how affordable and convenient. The message therapist just set up their table where ever in your house. We decided to light incense, put on some music, and really got to curate our vibe. You can get $20 off your booking by using THIS LINK to download the app & code AEJUK.

Because of restrictions right now, we weren’t able to get a couples massage so they ended up being back to backs. I didn’t want either of us to just start working or be on our phone so instead we did phone free writing prompts. They were things about our relationship and one another that we then read to each other over dinner after the massages. Make up your own, or get inspired from some of mine ; “what do you love most about our relationship?” “how do you need me to show up more for us?” “write me a love letter!”.

It really was such a fun night! We both cried and laughed while reading them!

Make dinner with your S.O., the girls or alone!

Light some candles, place flowers in a vase, set the table and make it extra special! We run through our day and eat so fast, but making a whole experience out of if can completely change how you experience, taste, smell and appreciate the night.

For an extra fun exercise, try making a gratitude list while or after eating. Write down all the things about your meal and experience that filled up your cup.

Get a fancy facial

My absolutely face facials are from The Freeze Clinic in Toronto, but they aren’t just a regular facial they take a little longer, give your skin a little more TLC and of course end up costing more. It might not always be in your budget but when it’s time to gift yourself with some self-love treatment, splurge for something that really makes you glow. Check out local spots near you that you’ve been wanting to go to for that skin treatment. They might even have specials on for the weekend of love (which I’ve been seeing a lot recently!). If you do check out Freeze Clinic, mention me they’ll give you 30$ off!

Order your favourite skincare from Sephora

Cold weekend’s and online shopping are the perfect duo. You don’t need a S.O. to treat you to a gift this v-day when you know what you want best (especially when it comes to skincare, makeup and self care products!). Set up uninterupted time and take yourself shopping for some new products.

Here are some of my faves at Sephora right now!

Get your nails done

I might sound like a broken record, but it’s true, like facials we always tend to guilt ourselves from spending too much on the “Fancy” manicure. This weekend book to upscale treatment that comes with an extended hand massage, or maybe opt for french or nail art. Don’t worry I wont mind if you totally copy my nails.
