Setting the Perfect Holiday Table

How to Set The Perfect Holiday Table

Y’all know how much I love the holiday’s but my favourite part is hosting dinner. I love to be able to turn any home or setting into a magical environment that transports you even if just for a meal. Since we are creeping up on your own Holiday dinner’s I wanted to share a few tips that might help you add your own magic into the night.

Here are my top 5 tips to make your tablescape sparkle this holiday!

Lights, Candles, Action

  • When hosting a dinner party this is one of the easiest ways to set the mood. I personally love to add a mix of candles and fairy lights. It creates a warm, cozy ambiance that can’t be matched. Using candlesticks, alternatively can add height and dimension to the table. For fairy lights, think of adding them on the walls of your room to create a completely different environment.

Get Inspired By Nature’s Greenery

  • When it comes to table decor, I love including lots of greenery! Ask your florist to additionally incorporate some touches of white to compliment the white/gold tablescape of the holidays. I worked with Bloom & Co florist in Niagara-on-the-lake for our holiday engagement dinner and her work was incredible. Check her out!

Use Chargers

  • I’m a big fan of chargers and a lot of people tend to skip this step because it’s an “extra dish”. Even if you just keep a set of chargers around for the holiday’s I strongly suggest it. (BTW- if you don’t know what a charger is, its that large accent plate that you do not eat off of, that goes under your dinner plate!) By including chargers, dinnerware and napkins, it gives each place setting height and a sense of elegance. Which I think can really distinguish an extraordinary tablescape from an ordinary one.

Linens & Rings

  • Tablecloths, napkins or runners are a necessary! This is one of the easiest ways set the tone for the decor, and they can be washed and reused for all future dinners. Plus, using cloth napkins adds that pop of colour and finishing it off with a festive napkin ring is yet another way to dress up the table. These napkin rings were from Homesense and added the perfect amount of glam. Try them and I promise, they won’t disappoint.

*Tip: Make sure you take time to press your linens so there aren’t any wrinkles.

All About The Glassware

  • Each place should be set with a water glass and a wine glass (if needed) that will be used during dinner. If your having a cocktail hour, I love to add extra sparkly with a something like these luxurious gold rim Martini Glasses from Stokes because they set the perfect holiday mood to serve your signature cocktail in. Ultimately your guests will be drinking all night long, even if that’s just water so go the extra mile with glassware.

    * Tip: Order customized wine tags and make you guests feel really special, and even leave with a little something for their next gathering. I love these from etsy!

Personalize It with Place Cards

  • I’m obsessed with this detail! I don’t think guests enjoy the question of ‘Where should I sit?’ . Make the night easier for your guests so they don’t have to make any decisions, even something so small as seating makes the night flow smoother. Visually, place cards like these are inexpensive and add such a cute and personalized touch to the table.
