Sam: [00:01:00] Hello, and welcome to another episode of Spin, Skin and Other Addictions. Today I have Reese Evans, a mindset and abundance coach and creator of the YES SUPPLY method here on the show.

[00:01:12] So if you are looking to achieve abundance and really attract that into your life, Reese is your gal. She's a certified coach and she also fills her Instagram with so much inspiration and goodness, if you're looking to get going on your biggest goals and just really crush that self-limiting belief and negative talk.

[00:01:30] So Reese, thank you so much for being here. You are so my vibe, I just love having you on the show today.

Reese: [00:01:36] Oh, thanks so much Samantha, for having me. I'm so excited to be here and I love everything that you're doing to how you're combining fitness and mindset and positivity. So I can totally feel as on the same vibe.

Sam: [00:01:50] Absolutely. That's how I was so excited when we decided to do podcast, because I feel like. I'm going to selfishly get so much goodness out of this. And I have so many [00:02:00] questions for you on my own side. But before that, why don't you take our listeners back to the beginning? How you got started a little bit of your background in training and also share a little bit what a mindset and abundance coach really is.

Reese: [00:02:13] Okay. Amazing. So one of the big things that I always remind myself, and I always remind my clients, is that saying, take the first step in the path will appear because a few years ago, before I started my business, I had no clue that I'd be running a coaching certification. I had no clue I'd be able to earn millions of dollars and help other people create multiple six-figure businesses. But it just started from following my passions. I feel like you're very similar where you just followed your passions. And then here you are, you have this amazing empire that you built.

[00:02:44] And so for me, I was working a string of jobs that I just didn't like, I felt I wasn't able to pursue my creativity. I felt like I was being treated like a number in my jobs. And I had this sense within me that I had so much more potential, [00:03:00] but I didn't know how to go after it. And I felt the same way by about so many people around me as well. I was surrounded by really talented creative people who would say things like I really want to be an entrepreneur, but I can never  do that, I really want to be an artist, but I can never do that.

[00:03:14] And it used to get to me so much, like why do we all tell ourselves no?  A big part of why I had been telling myself no for such a long time is I had grown up in an abusive home. And so for years after that after moving out on my own, I still was plagued with so much limiting beliefs and negative self-talk and being my own biggest bully. And I just had this moment where I said enough is enough. No one else is going to advocate for me if I don't start advocating for myself. And so I took a risk on myself and I went out on a limb. I started a little blog called the YES SUPPLY where I actually started by interviewing people who had found their passion and turned it into a career.

[00:03:56] And from doing that, I recognize that the [00:04:00] secret to success isn't it's not a secret that someone could write down for you like a specific structure or strategy. It really is all about having a positive mindset, believing in yourself getting clear on your goals and then letting go of whatever is not serving you those internal limiting beliefs in self-talk and everything like that.

[00:04:19] That also led me into manifestation, which I also believe is a huge part of creating the life that you want, trusting that when you do your part, the universe will come in and support you in a way that you can never imagine. And I started coaching one-on-one help these people see a lot of success and a lot of people are asking me about my techniques and that's when I went ahead and launch the YES SUPPLY method certification. I had gone through, a lot of other different trainings and took what I love and left what I didn't.

[00:04:50] And actually, even before our call today, I was updating the manual of so many incredible new techniques and ways of looking at the world. We're now including diversity, equity and [00:05:00] inclusion and trauma sensitivity in our certification as well. So yeah, that's the journey and then to share with you I think you also asked what is a mindset and abundance coach.

[00:05:11]Essentially, I coach people to have the mindset that it's going to help them create the life of their dreams and the abundance or money, income of their dreams. And a huge thing that shifted my life, which is why I'm such a huge advocate for abundance is moving from scarcity. Thinking that there's not enough that.

[00:05:32] If I'm successful, I'm taking away from others or if one person has something I can't if that girl on Instagram is, prettier than me than I can't succeed or whatever, I shifted out of that way of thinking that only one person can have it or only a small group of people can have it. And I shifted into the way of thinking that there's unlimited resources, there's unlimited amount of success.

[00:05:55] There's unlimited room at the top. And the sooner we all begin to think [00:06:00] like that, the sooner we're able to see how much is really available for us.

Sam: [00:06:04] Oh, I love that. And just, as you say, like, when we look at someone else achieving it on social media, it impacts how we feel like we can get it, how they look, how they're receiving it.

[00:06:14] And we, like you said, put up these limiting beliefs that we make excuses for the success we have made. I don't know if you notice this with your clients, but I hear this from a lot of people.  How do you  interpreter or help people who make excuses for any success they have made, and that limits them moving forward to more success?

Reese: [00:06:34] Yeah, absolutely.  I think that when we do that, if we want to stop doing that, a great way to think about it is we're actually doing other people, a disservice as well.

[00:06:43]If someone says to you, Hey Samantha, how did you start your business? He said, oh, I was just really young when I started so I didn't know what I was doing. Someone might say oh I'm not young enough or whatever. But when we own it and we say yeah, like I put the time and I put the energy in, I might be like you, and I didn't believe in [00:07:00] myself at first, but I made it happen.

[00:07:01] Other people are able to see wow, if she did it or he did, or they did it. I can do it as well. And then I totally agree with you that it limits us from getting to the next step, because then we're like, oh, I probably just fluked it. That's when the imposter syndrome starts to come in. I probably just fluked it.

[00:07:21] I had a good month this month, but next month, I don't know if I'm going to get another client. I don't know if I'm going to be as successful. And then what happens is because we're not focusing on what we want, we're focusing on what we don't want. We often do start to attract things, backtracking.

[00:07:35]And so one of the things that I love to remind myself is, if I was able to go from zero to where I am today, learning the resources along the way and learning the tools and everything along the way. I still have that ability to learn. I still have the ability to even make mistakes and learn from them and keep growing.

[00:07:54] And so I trust that just in nature, how things are continually growing. I am a part [00:08:00] of nature and I can continually grow too. And I just, again, continue to trust that as I take steps forward, the resources that I need or people that I need to help me or whatever it is, are going to show up along the way.

Sam: [00:08:12] And what are some of the things that, that someone listening could do daily to shift that imposter syndrome, as you said?

Reese: [00:08:22] Okay. Usually imposter syndrome shows up when you're starting to, achieve something, but maybe you feel like you don't deserve it and everything like that.

[00:08:33] So I think it's really important to know that whatever good is coming to you, you deserve it. And there's no one, like picture of what success is supposed to look like. I think we, we've grown up on TV thinking that a CEO has to be like an old man in a suit. That's the picture that we were fed for decades of our life.

[00:08:55] And so now we assume if we're successful for running a million dollar business, or we [00:09:00] have a big audience or making lots of money. We're like, wait a second. I don't know if I fit that identity of the old man in the suit. I don't know if I can live up to those standards and what we have to remind ourselves is just because TV fed us or media or whatever fed us that idea.

[00:09:17] That doesn't mean that it's actually true. The world is unlimited. And so one of the things that you can do is look for examples of people who maybe don't necessarily fit that quote standard, but are successful. Look for people out there that resonate with you. Like for me, I'm a woman of color. And I didn't see a lot of people who looked like me. When I first got started in this industry. And so I started to seek out and look for people who are clues for me, that's successful as possible for me, even though I didn't look like anyone that I had seen before. And just remember that all the rules that we believe in life, they were just made up by another human.

[00:09:52] And you're a human, I'm a human, we are able to make our own rules for our life. And when we remind ourselves [00:10:00] that we don't have to be something that we're not in order to be successful, then we give ourselves permission to be successful as exactly who we are already.

Sam: [00:10:10] I have a big smile on my face.

[00:10:12] As you say, all the rules we know were just made up by another human being because it's true. So true. I often try to remind myself that, time and time again, but it's so true. And for our listeners, they might have had that same aha moment. Like every article or opinion or social media posts like these are, yes.

[00:10:31] A lot of them have factual information or research, but many of them are people's opinions or rules or what works for them. And that's where we also have to set that boundary between what we consume. And I love that you said, I started looking for people that looked like me in that position of success and not necessarily just physically or, as a female or a male, but just who represents really your vibe and what you're going for. And this sort of, I often see people talking about their [00:11:00] two kind of personalities, I want to be soft, but I also want to be hard and successful. And one thing that I'm sure plays into that for so many, and I want to get your opinion on this is with social media.

[00:11:11] We can choose what we consume, and it's a lot different than choosing to watch a show. We didn't pick who's in that show. We didn't pick the playing that role. And within social media, we do have that choice. So how has that impacted you in your personal story and what do you suggest with social media, for your clients as well?

Reese: [00:11:30] Yeah, so a quote is coming to mind and I'm going to butcher it a little bit, but It's essentially along the lines of don't take advice from someone whose position you wouldn't want to be in. So whatever we're looking at, whether it's the news, social media TV, we have to filter it through our own being.

[00:11:47] We have to filter it through our own truth. Even if someone's popping up on social media saying, oh, if you want a successful business, you need to have a book and a podcast and a Facebook bot and ads and do that. Oh, okay. Is this person [00:12:00] in the position that I want to be in or do they look really stressed out? Cause they're trying to-

Sam: [00:12:04] I got stressed out as you said all of them.

Reese: [00:12:09] I know and are they, do they have the family? It's not just about money, but are they earning the money that I want? And also to give, maybe they're earning the money, but they have literally no family life or personal time or whatever, because that's all they do.

[00:12:20] So it's so important to remember that just because someone says something to you on a screen, and even me saying this to you through podcasts, it doesn't have to be your truth until you decide for you, if that's the right thing for you. So I think that's the really first important thing to remember that your going to filter it along the way.

[00:12:41] And then a big discussion that's actually happening right now in the world.

[00:12:46] I'm sure is a lot about diversity, equity and inclusion. And the big conversation that we see is around race. And that's so important to make sure that we're learning from people from different racial backgrounds, but [00:13:00] it goes further than that as well. My, my team. And I recently hired a diversity equity inclusion coach, and we've been taking workshops that expose us to all these different experiences that are outside of our own.

[00:13:12] And so what we do on Friday is we actually have a call as a team when we discuss things. And then we find someone on Instagram who has a completely different experience then us and we share it in our team chat and we talk about it and discuss it. And so it's so important to see, like somebody who has a disability, what are they going through?

[00:13:31] What are they teaching on, someone who has a different gender expression? What are they going through? And I think that really opens us up to so many different things that we might not have been aware of. And then it allows us as business owners as well, to be cognizant of that when we're teaching and sharing, to make sure that we're including all different types of people.

[00:13:50] And the beautiful thing too in sharing that is you see all these different examples of success and it [00:14:00] reinforces even more that you can create your own unique path. You don't need to follow someone else's five-step method. There are five step method it might help you, but you have to understand that there's no one way to success.

[00:14:12] Like someone who builds a clothing brand is going to have a different way of success and someone with a shoe brand, than a coach, than a book. And so  all those people will have a thousand different ways that they do it. So no matter what information you're taking in or what course you're taking in, you have to filter it through does this feel right to me? And so as much as I love social media and I love sharing it and everything like that. I also spend a lot of time alone on my own. Like when I have a goal, I sit down on my journal out. Okay. What will this goal look like when it's achieved? What will I see around me?

[00:14:43] What will I feel around me? What will I hear? How are people gonna react to it? How do I keep that in mind as I'm building? If I'm building a program or a course or something like that, and then I reverse engineer it back to now okay, what would like without thinking about what a guru told me to do?

[00:14:58] I reverse engineer back to now. [00:15:00] And think about  what would I have to do to create this? What would I be talking about? What would I be building? Who would I need to have on my team, what resources, but what I'd be putting it. And it's so important not to just take in information, but to think of it for yourself, because that's how you create a clear path for you that feels really aligned and feels really fun.

[00:15:20] And I also find that the less time I spend on social media, the better my mental health feels. I just feel happier. I just feel like a human. I was born in 1989 and so it brings me back to the nineties. When, you got to walk around with a phone in your pocket, it's a great feeling.

Sam: [00:15:36] I can second that even for someone, both of us create a lot of content and spend a lot of time on social media. But I think distancing, especially when it's part of your work too, is like a big piece of that. Just putting it away. I also love what you said about just creating your own path and making sure you feel super aligned and true and not following what works for someone else or their five step program, but [00:16:00] also realizing is this where I feel aligned and how does this represent me as well? And what's super beautiful about that is I feel like you embody that in all of the content that you share. It's very unique and it shares an approachable method that really communicates the person or whoever you're coaching and your audience, your community, finding it for themselves and making sure that it works for them in their life, in their method and what they want.

[00:16:29]Tell us a little bit more about the YES SUPPLY method and anyone who's listening, how can they get involved? How can they become part of this community? This movement?

Reese: [00:16:41] Yeah, absolutely. So that's why I love teaching these tools. So with these tools we show you how to access your own subconscious mind, which your subconscious mind for anyone who's new to this mindset world, your subconscious mind is what is helping you operate your life on autopilot.

[00:16:58]When you wake up in the morning [00:17:00] and you do the same routine you brush your teeth, you wash your face, you go get breakfast, you tie your shoes, whatever you're going through a series of processes that are pretty much operating on autopilot. And when you learn more about your mind, which is your most powerful tool ever, and you learn how to reprogram it, to line you up to the life that you want.

[00:17:21] And you're going to be able to feel like you start making different decisions, changing or habits, changing the way you feel, everything like that, to get you going there towards what you want, rather than staying in the exact same place. Because we're programmed to essentially go on loop. But when you can reprogram you'll feel like achieving your goals is effortless because you've essentially written your subconscious mind with that new program.

[00:17:46] And so we teach the tools to access that, and we teach it tools to reprogram your energy? So you're feeling better. You're feeling lighter. You're not letting limiting beliefs expectations. What other people want to view or think that you [00:18:00] have to do on you  and get to peel back all the layers of that programming and really be your true self. And then that's how you create success. That feels good for you because you're basing your success on what you really want as a person, rather than what you think that you should do. Because of, social media news, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.

[00:18:20] And so for me, I'm never about telling people what to do or forcing my opinion on people. But what I want people to do is trust themselves who they are and these tools help you get to know that and unlock that so that you feel confident to make decisions for yourself and go after the life that you want.

[00:18:43] So the YES SUPPLY method shows you how to, of course, Have those tools in your toolkit. So you can use them for yourself, with your family, friends, people that you love and care about. And then of course, if you want to become a successful coach, these are the tools that are going to help you become a successful coach.

[00:19:00] [00:18:59] Because when a lot of people actually self-sabotage themselves from getting coaching clients, because they have this little fear of the back of their head. Okay. If this person actually signs up for my program and pays $2000, $3,00, $5,000 for my program, how am I actually going to help them?

[00:19:15]What, if I don't have to like experience, what if I don't have the advice and what they don't realize is that good coaching isn't about giving advice or telling someone what to do based on life. Good coaching is actually about helping the client uncover who they really are to fully embody and fully empower themselves from the inside out.

[00:19:37] And so with these tools, you actually have a system to help the client get to where it is that they want to be by empowering themselves and embodying their true self. And so we do this with a variety of different techniques. Some are energy and somatic techniques like emotional freedom techniques where this is driven from acupuncture points or tapping on different acupuncture points to release energy [00:20:00] that's not serving you in the body. And then working with hypnotherapy and neuro-linguistic programming to again, look at how you're currently operating on autopilot and what you can do to shift that so that you are living your life in the way that you want.

Sam: [00:20:18] It's almost like peeling back the layers,  it's like exfoliating your skin, right? You're appealing back. You're taking off the dead. You're taking off. What's left. What's stuck with sticky. What's not serving you so that you are at a fresh. New level to rebuild on in the way you're describing.

Reese: [00:20:37] I love that analogy because that's what happens. It's like people set a goal like I want to be a millionaire and it feels good to them. Oh my God, it'd be so great to have all that money. I donate to my favorite charity. I put my kid in the best schools. Yes, I want to do that. And that's like them being like, I want to live my best life, but then the little thoughts creep in, oh, who are you to do that?

[00:20:56] You failed math, you can't handle money, duh, that, and those are like, [00:21:00] that's like the dead skin, you got programmed that from maybe something a parent said, or a teacher said, or a TV show said, and when you release that, you're like, yes, I deserve it. I get to earn this money. I get to follow my creativity and do what I love and live my best life because of that.

[00:21:17] So I love that analogy. So good.

Sam: [00:21:19] Yeah, I think  it's just renewing. So any process of renewing feels so good, but it's not really possible unless we remove what's in the way. But I think I'll let you use that moving forward, exfoliate your life, and then put the really good products back on.

Reese: [00:21:36] I love it. That's so funny.

Sam: [00:21:38] So tell us what you're working on now and what you have in the works. I know you have so many different things. You have a thriving Facebook group for your community as well. What's coming up and what are you working on?

Reese: [00:21:51] Yeah. So we are actually in the middle of right now, reworking our entire coaching program because [00:22:00] we used to offer them in person.

[00:22:02] But I don't know if you've noticed, but there's this little thing that's happening in the world.

[00:22:07] We really can't do any in person events anymore. And so we realized, it might still be like this for a while longer, especially I'm in Canada. So I don't know if you guys know what's happening in Canada, but the restrictions are crazy right now. And so what we're doing is we're actually rejigging a lot of our programs to create a longer rather than people traveling in and doing one week or two weeks at a time, because obviously you can't move to Canada for six months to get certified.

[00:22:36]We're rejigging your program so there's longer cohorts. So people get a longer amount of time to really integrate the content and learn and ask questions. We have an incredible team that operates in Australia, UK and in Toronto. So we have support across time zones and we're integrating new techniques that support like somatic healing.

[00:22:59] So a [00:23:00] body healing, as well as becoming more trauma sensitive. At this point I feel like I can really honestly say that. Everyone has experienced some form of trauma. I think before they sat at about  70% of people have suffered trauma. Now after I think the whole world collectively has gone through 2020 together, there's a lot of the things that people are working through.

[00:23:22] There's a lot of things that people are coming up. So this is a really important aspect of our coaching certification. And yeah, we're just seeing people have such incredible results. Quit their jobs, launch their businesses, create six figures, multiple six figures have the freedom that they want for their lives and their families.

[00:23:39]So I'm just having a lot of fun doing it. So that's what we're really working on. Just upgrading and updating and making everything even better.

Sam: [00:23:47] And do you still take one-on-one clients or are you focused specifically on building more coaches and making a bigger impact that way?

Reese: [00:23:56] Yeah, right now, I'm just focused on the building, our [00:24:00] certification.

[00:24:00] So I was taking one-on-one clients until last summer, because last August I had my little baby boy, so I took some time. Thank you. Yes. I took some time  just to, really soak it in and spend a lot of time with him and everything like that. And that's actually what prompted me to grow our team even more because I realized that, when I was leading one-on-one coaching and I was leading the training, there's only so much that I can do as one person. Lead 20 or 30 people in a training, but we've trained our team so well that now we can help so many more people with these tools. So it's funny the thoughts been popping into my mind. So I think I will get back into one-on-one coaching pretty soon, but I'm also really enjoying this time with my son.

Sam: [00:24:47] I bet. And that's such a valuable time, and that's why you build, back to the reasons of why do you want your success to reach a certain place you've built your success to this level so that you can, as an entrepreneur scale back and spend that time with your [00:25:00] son.

[00:25:00] Exactly.

[00:25:01] That's so beautiful.

[00:25:02] And that's part of your values. And so Reese, can you share with everyone where they can find you where they can get more information on YES SUPPLY, maybe learn about some of the coaches that have gone through your certification. Either they're interested in becoming coaches or maybe just finding a coach themselves that's been trained with you.

Reese: [00:25:19] Yeah, absolutely. So I post almost every day on my Instagram. So you can follow me on Instagram just to see, behind the scenes and lots of great content to help you as a coach. We also have a lot of great videos that go up on our YouTube. And then if you're interested in becoming a coach with us, you can head to yessupply.co/certified and learn more about our upcoming dates for the certification.

Sam: [00:25:41] Amazing. I want to say thank you so much for being here, dropping so many little nuggets for people to just get inspired, to shift their mindset around their success and figure out how that fits for them. And hopefully exfoliate all that bad dead skin off. I love it.

Reese: [00:25:59] Who wants a dead [00:26:00] skin?

Sam: [00:26:00] Nobody wants it.

Reese: [00:26:01] I've been doing a lot of guasha lately and I've been loving it.

Sam: [00:26:05] I think that's the one benefit of being locked at home as this continues in Canada and in Toronto has been just taking as much time as we need for our skincare routine or beauty routine. I'll give it, I'll give us that.

Reese: [00:26:17] I agree. I agree. Thank you so much, Samantha. It's been so fun chatting with you.
